Antenatal scans are only one part of your regular antenatal checks but they're usually the part that's most enjoyable and rewarding for prospective parents, giving them a chance to see their developing baby in the womb.
Our private patients service is a development of the Obstetric Ultrasound Department at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, working as a part of the Bournemouth Private Clinic.
We can provide a combination of 2 Dimensional, 3 Dimensional and 4 Dimensional images of your baby; our aim being to assess fetal well being and achieve some amazing static and moving keepsake pictures of your, as yet, unborn child. You can learn more at:
What We Do
When you come in for your appointment we follow a specific process.
Firstly, your scan will start with a traditional 2D ultrasound. This will establish fetal wellbeing as a matter of utmost priority. From this 2D scan, measurements will be obtained, and a report generated.
The scan will then alternate between 2D, 3D and 4D in order to obtain both still and moving images. Each examination and set of images is unique and highly dependant on whether or not your baby is feeling photogenic!
Our aim is to always provide a special experience and insight into your baby's development. After a successful scan you will receive a folder which will contain:
- A copy of the fetal wellbeing report.
- A disc with the 2D and 3D stills, plus any 4D clips of your baby's activities within the womb.
- A photo of your choice.
Please note that due to the unpredictability of your baby's position within the womb, we may not be able to successfully obtain 3D and 4D scans. If this is the case, you will be given one free rescan appointment. If we are unsuccessful for a second time then any further appointment slots must be paid for. Please note that we do not give refunds if the baby is lying in a position such that we are unable to get the required 3D images.
The charge for the scan is £150.
The payment must be made at the time you book your appointment.
